I barely fumbled through Statistics in grad school, but this article really shows what I missed out on. Fascinating work she is doing, and to me, it exemplifies science at its best. A big problem is systematically broken down and clearly explained through a statistically significant series of correlations. My old genetics professor would call this “elegant work,” a term which he defined to mean, “An experiment or study that makes so much sense you read about it and say, ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’”
